- The answer is that you don't have a 16450 UART - you have a simulation
- of one (or two) on a custom-made chip, probably together with a parallel
- port. You are stuck with what you have.

- If you are only going to use the modem with the PC, it would have been
- cheaper to disable the serial port that you are now using, and
- installing an internal modem instead. It would have had the buffering
- built in ...
