  19. I'm just another "hack" trying to determine the same thing, Ken..
  20. not an expert.. but I could not find any way to do that from the
  21. manuals and asking around... (no I didn't call telebit)...
  22. The only thing I can suggest is to +++ the modem into command mode
  23. then access S70 and S72 which are the transmit and receive
  24. modulation rate... they change to reflect the higher line speed...
  25. After I sweated over this for a while, I chose to ignore the
  26. differences and use 38400 for ALL "FAST" connections on the worldblazer
  27. and 19200 on the older trailblazers I'm using........ I have a uugetty
  28. running (the PD on off the net).. that is fixed up (by a friend of mine)
  29. to treat modems differently based on a config file on a per modem basis...
  30. so this is pretty easy.... I plan to convert to taylor
  31. UUCP to take care of using different rates and different result codes
  32. on outgoing so I can optimize the throughput on uucp...

  38. Nope.. not that I know of... the I0 "register request" at the local
  39. modem is the only one I have seen...

  42. to accomplish, therefore the above description of how I'm getting around
  43. the need to know if the connection is turbo-pep...
