- Ah. The infamous runaway CPS rate. Here's the "standard" answer for that
- problem:
-
- What is happening is that your computer is talking to your modem at a faster
- rate than your modem is talking to the other modem. Going by the CPS rates
- you reported, you more than likely have a high speed modem.
-
- Your modem normally uses RTS/CTS handshaking to control the problem of a
- computer giving it too much information, too fast. What's going on is that
- you're flooding your modem and it's saying to your software "Shut up! SHUT
- UP!" but your software is not listening.
-
- How to solve the problem? Look for an option to enable CTS/RTS handshaking.
- [Make sure you are NOT using XON/XOFF handshaking.] If you do that, and the
- problem persists, then make sure your modem is set up to send the proper
- handshaking signals.
-
- Let me know how this works out for you, okay?
