- I have very recently installed a network on my two IBM PC Clones
- here, and had one question about the terminating resistors. I'm
- using a pair of 3COM 3C503 cards with both the fifteen pin (AUI ?)
- connector and a coax connector. I have 'T' adaptors in the coax
- connectors, all neatly hooked up, and it's working just fine.
-
- A lot of people have said that exactly one of the two terminating
- resistors needs to be a pigtail terminator, however neither of the
- ones I have is.
-
- Very simply, what exactly is a pigtail terminator. My intuition
- says it's nothing more than a regular terminator with a wire attached
- to the shield, and said wire is then attached to the system chassis
- ground. Is this correct, and if so can I "hot-wire" one by soldering
- a wire onto one of the terminators I have here.
-
- Also just how essential are they: I seem to be getting on just fine
- with two regular terminators.
