- A significant number of in-house made ethernet transceiver (AUI) cables
- made with DB15 connectors on (unshielded) twisted pair ribbon cable
- are (fairly rapidly) appearing on the local network here. As is true
- of many such shortcuts they seem to be working (when pairs are matched
- properly).
-
- My experience and a general attitude of "follow the spec to the letter"
- cause these cables to scare me. So, the question is:
-
- Does anyone out there have any hard data (pro or con) on AUI cables
- created by clamping a pair of connectors on a twisted pair ribbon
- cable?
-
- Email responses appreciated. I'll post a synopsis.
