- # I'm also a WinFax user... for a few more weeks. There are at least

- # Eclipse Systems' EclipseFAX and ZSoft's UltraFAX. The latter one

- # than WinFax Pro. And both companies offer an 'competetive

- # ZSoft: (800) 444-4780

-
- Has anyone used UltraFAX yet? If you have, please mail me, (or post if
- generally interesting). I'm impressed with what little I know of it,
- and I'm tempted by the price (#99 list here, but #49 as an upgrade from ANY
- other FAX software, just send in your install disk - goodbye ZFAX!).
- I understand it is available now - the dealer had just got it in, (and
- tells me it's wonderful). But I'm always suspicious of new packages!
-
- WinFax provide a "Test drive" demo disk, but I understand there is no
- equivalent for UltraFAX.
-
- BTW the leaflet that I was sent on UltraFAX includes a comparison table of
- features showing it has many more than WinFax Pro 2 - but the current
- version of that is now Pro 3, which seems to have almost all of them.
- New features in both include OCR, FAX editing and annotation and FAX image
- cleanup tools. UltraFAX alone has the ability to send binary files to
- other parties who have the same software - that could be useful eventually.
-
- BTW I've wondered for a long time why nobody provides software to do binary
- transfers over a FAX modem - so many people have 9600 FAX modems but only
- 2400 data, and there's no fundamental reason why you can't use the FAX modem
- for data transfer. Is there any PD or cheap software that does this
- already, or are Wordstar/ZSoft breaking new ground?
