- We work on a set of DecStation 5000/200's running ULTRIX V4.2 (Rev. 96).
- We have cron run c shell scripts as user INGRES that in turn run all our
- reports and nightly SQL integrity checks. It is good pratice to ALWAYS give
- CRON or any other script a full pathname. One nice plus we have seen from
- using shell scripts is that we can send reports via mail directly to dept.
- heads or some external sites for verification of a code used via e-mail. Our
- users and external sites have really welcomed this functionallity. They get
- their coffee and sit down to read yesterdays reports. No traversing from
- machine to machine or digging through directory structures. These are, of
- course, for NON-sensitive information only.
