-
- Objective, Agenda and Participants: This ASI on Object-Oriented
- Databases aims to disseminate state-of-the art knowledge on the
- topic to scientists in an international setting, to bring together
- the best researchers and practitioners in the field, to share
- information on latest research findings and on ongoing projects,
- to provide an environment in which "students" may learn from
- distinguished teachers, and to stimulate collaboration among
- scientists. It is expected that over sixty students (which can be
- researchers or practitioners at any - pre- or post-graduate -
- level) will attend, drawn from each NATO country and from Central
- and Eastern Europe. It is also intended to have about thirty
- industrial and government bodies represented at the ASI. The
- proceedings of the ASI will be published by Springer-Verlag.
-
-
-
- Applications: Applications for participation at the ASI are
- sought. Prospective students, industrial or government participants
- and observers should send brief proposals of what they intend to
- accomplish and what form their participation would take. Each
- proposal should include a curriculum vitae, a summary of relevant
- scientific and professional accomplishments, and a documented
- statement of financial need (if funds are applied for). Support
- letters from other members of the professional community familiar
- with the applicant's work would strengthen the application.
- Prospective participants from Greece, Portugal and Turkiye are
- especially encouraged to apply.
-
-
-
- COSTS AND FUNDING : THE LAND ACCOMMODATIONS
- AND MEALS FOR THE TEN DAYS DURATION OF
- THE ASI IS US$580. IN ADDITION, AN INDUSTRIAL
- registration fee of $500.00 will be charged.
-
-
-
- We intend to subsidise costs of lecturers and students, to the
- maximum extent possible by our funding, generously provided by
- NATO. Consequently, we invite proposals for additional sponsorship
- of the ASI. Every sponsor will be fully acknowledged both at the
- ASI site and in the printed proceedings. Moreover, the list of all
- sponsors will be copied, along with our gratitude, to the NATO
- Assistant Secretary General for Scientific and Environmental
- Affairs and the Advisory Panel of the ASI Programme. Prospective
- students and other participants should also seek support from their
- national scientific funding agencies. The agencies, such as the
- American NSF or the German DFG, may provide some ASI travel funds
- upon the recommendation of an ASI director. Additional funds exist
- for students from Greece, Portugal and Turkiye.
-
-
-
- Correspondence and Registration: Applications and proposals should
- be forwarded to Prof. Asuman Dogac at the above address. Sufficient
- time must be allowed for all correspondence to be evaluated and
- written invitations to be issued where warranted. Student
- applications arriving after April 1st, 1993 may not be considered.
- All approved applicants will be informed of the exact registration
- arrangements and will be asked to register promptly.
