- Don't bother -- a totally new (and yes, incompatbile) AV system is
- needed. AV codes for both the old and new versions of PKZIP can be
- forged quite easily, and all the feature does is provide a false
- sense of security. Adding backward-compatibility would just allow
- people to continue using their current fake AV codes without even
- having to rewrite the forging programs.
