- Well, I wouldn't call what we do a Unix "port" of pkzip. Instead
- what we do is write portable software that is compatible with pkzip
- and pkunzip. PKWare themselves have been porting pkzip to select
- Unix platforms, and it is possible that they may sell such ports in
- the future. However, I'd wonder about the market for that,
- considering that zip and unzip are free.
-
- Anyway, I have already posted a patch to unzip 5.0 to make it
- compatible with pkzip 2.04c, and we will be releasing a patched
- unzip sometime next week. An MSDOS executable is already available
- (see a previous post by Timo).
-
- In the near future, we will be releasing a version of zip that
- implements multi-volume archives, possibly with some enhancements
- beyond what PKWare has defined to make it more useful for non-
- floppy applications. (pkzip gives the same name to the zip files
- on all the floppies!)
