- Hello Charles,
-
- This is very typically a question that should be sent to the author,
- or if he is unknown, then one might try to ask the uploader. I
- usually try to indicdate the uploader in the "-To: field" in my
- postings to comp.archives.msdos.announce. The author may be a more
- difficult proposition, and finding that out often requires some
- "detective" work from the person who wants to make the contact. I
- wish the uploaders would indicate the author more clarly in their
- upload annoluncements, whenever they can. But we'll have to
- remember that this is all voluntary, and up to the goodwill of the
- gentle uploaders (and the maintainers of the sites, as well).
-
- But yours is a good and a welcome question, and I'll be pleased to
- post a copy of this reply to comp.archives.msdos.d in case someone
- can help you.
-
- All the best, Timo
-
- P.S. As the gentle users will know, we all have our habits and
- preferences. One of mine is that I like to try to answer these
- questions publicly, and not only by email. I have a distinct
- reasons for doing this. Simply it gives me the chance to answer
- similar questions several users might have at one go. Besides some
- other users might find the questions / answers of interest even if
- they would have not come to think of them. A third reason is that
- someone else might know the answer better than I, or have additional
- or alternative information.
-
- Please do not misunderstand this. I still welcome your email, but
- I'll often redirect it here for the reasons stated, and because I
- have to economize my time. Thus my wholesale rather than retain
- methods, if you will. Also please note that these are my personal
- preferences, not those of the newsgroup. The other moderators have
- their own preferred modes, and we should respect that.
