- Could people also put down people that are doing neural networks
- research in these departments? I've filled in CMU to the best of my
- knowledge.
-
- In addition to the CMU people you've listed (all in psychology), we have
- Dave Touretzky, Alex Waibel, Dean Pomerleau, and me in CS/Robotics, plus
- a fair number of other CS people who are interested in neural nets but not
- (yet?) fully committed in this area. I'd include Tom Mitchell, Avrim Blum,
- Hans Berliner, and Merrick Furst in this extended group, and there are
- probably others.
-
- In addition, there are a number of people in the engineering departments
- who are working on aspects or applications of neural nets. Among them are
- Ginny Stonick, Vijaya Kumar, Jose Moura, and Jim Garrett. David Casasent
- has a group in ECE who work on optical technology for neural nets and image
- processing.
-
- There is a new program in computational neuroscience that involves CMU
- (mostly the psychology people plus Dave Touretzky), and a larger group of
- people at Pitt, including a good number from the medical school there.
-
- So if you add it all up, Carnegie Mellon has a lot going on in this area.
