- My employer is willing to put up money for me to pursue a greater
- education, and seems willing to allow employees to take time even
- in the middle of the day to attend classes. So I would say that the
- support is there from management for advancing myself educationally,
- the problem is the fact that I live in Sioux Falls SDouth Dakota. There
- are some Masters level courses in business and even MIS, but nothing
- available in serious CS. That is why I am looking for alternaticves -
- there is nothing locally avaiable. I am lloking at what others
- (like those of you who responded ) have done to get some new ideas in
- an attempt to be creative.

- On the contrary, I agree and I understand what you said (well maybe I don't
- agree totally). PhD programs do take a long time and do require
- a great deal of interaction between student and professor and other
- students. Has anyone , perhaps from the educational side as opposed
- to the CS side looked into methods or concepts of offering this
- level of education in some other fashion . I mean with all the
- technology that we possess and , teleconferencing, networking etc. it is
- interesting that some type of dmore emphasis has not been put into distance education
- in this country.
-
- If I could just figure out how I could tie a requirement for a PhD to
- my current project I might be able to swing something, but sionce the
- project only has 3 years (or so) left I have my doubts.
-
- Anyway thanks for the responses and your input. I think this is
- an interesting topic and and it can only get better. If I find anything
- exciting I will post it.
