- a couple of people have suggested (in comments re use of statisticians
- in news programs) that since mcneil lerher (sp?) is on PBS and doesn't
- rely on ad revevues that they are immune from commercial interests. That's
- not exactly true. They are a syndicated program - they sell segments to
- local stations. Their ability to sydicate themselves (and non profit or not,
- they would still like to draw salaries) depends on ratings. Just as ad
- revenues depend on ratings, so does syndication revenues. PBS is subsidiczed
- by public funds - not wholly funded.
