- I am working on a presentation for the Florida School Counselors Association
- (not yet approved).
- The subject will be working with youth that are involved in gangs. The
- exact focus of the topic is still undecided so any relevant references will be
- appreciated (Group counseling with gang members, individual counseling with
- gang members, consultation with teachers who have students that are gang
- members. Working with students whose daily life is affected by gang members,
- parents whose children are gang members, and conflict resolution involving gang
- members.) As you see, I coud use almost any material that touches on the
- subject.
- I would also like to see a discussion on this on the list. What should
- the role of a counselor be when we work with gang members? Should use a change
- provocative focus? Can gang membership be a positive influence in the
- development of an individual? Any takers..? Paul, Counselor Ed., U. of Fla.
