  12. We do not have a "good" backup for patron use when/if the online catalog is
  13. down.  We share an online system with 40+ other libraries (academic and
  14. public) and are the only ones open on Sunday mornings.  The system does not
  15. come up until noon on that day.  Library use is low Sunday mornings, as you
  16. might expect, but we attempt to direct patrons to the call number range
  17. matchng their inquiry and let them browse.  We also double check the Reserve
  18. collection if appropriate.
  19. When we have more library terminals tied into the Internet, we will be able to
  20. use this as a backup system to search our library holdings via CARL.  Of
  21. course, our library holdings are not yet on the CARL menus, but we expect them
  22. to be there "soon."  (minor software glitches)

  24. Circulation is no problem.  Our online system includes an auxilliary circ
  25. system running from floppies.  When the system comes up, we upload the
  26. captured data.

  28. Our consortium is C/W MARS.  Our online system is CARL.
