- Mike--Intermedia requires a Unix operating system so once Apple abandoned
- its version of Unix, Intermedia died. But the best hypertext authoring
- tool for the Mac is really Storyspace, available from Eastgate Systems,
- Inc., 134 Main Street, Watertown, MA 02172. Phone: (800) 562-1638..
-
- Hope this helps..

- Hmm... Apple hasn't abandoned its proprietary Unix operating system for the
- Mac, A/UX. (In fact, they are advertising right now for technical support
- staff who can support it.) It is a _very_ good Unix OS for PC's and lots
- of people who like Unix are still using it -- still buying it, in fact.
- You can purchase a Mac configured with A/UX (which also includes the regular
- Mac OS, so that you can run any Mac application on it) or you can get
- it on CD-ROM (which is apparently the only storage medium big enough to
- handle it -- but I guess there are no small OS's any more.)
-
- Given this, I'm not surprised that Intermedia is not a hypertext standard --
- Macs configured with A/UX are not that common -- but I would be surprised if
- it were not still available somewhere. But if it is non-compatible with
- other OS's, it probably wouldn't be very useful to you.
-
- I'm curious as to whether or not there are any non-Mac or non-Unix based
- hypertext apps out there. The concept seems to require a graphical user
- interface. Also, I wonder if anyone has bothered yet to make any DOS-type
- ports of the Mac hypertext programs that are already out there? Is Windows
- too buggy to handle such things, or what?
