  17. I have to blame myself: I knew the situation going in, and overestimated my
  18. ability to change it.  It took me a LONG time just to get the Associate Dean
  19. to stop sending memos about stuff that affected my program to the Chair and
  20. have him send them to me, so I knew what was being done to me.  Apparently he
  21. just couldn't believe a female person was truly in charge.  (The Chair and I
  22. met with him over something or other, and after our 90 minutes meeting I
  23. almost had to hold the Chair down, he was so incensed by this Ass Dean (Associat
  24.    e, I mean, of course!)'s continual interruption and talking over me.  I just
  25. wished I had it on audiotape--would have ben perfect data for my discourse
  26. analysis seminar!!
