  15. Well, last week I put on a query about an article that
  16. appeared on the NY Times op-ed page, dec 29, which referred to a
  17. GAO report on nuclear weapons.  I was trying to find out which report it
  18. was (the Times, typically for newspapers, did not give the title of
  19. the report, only that it was released in September).

  21. I called the GAO doc ordering hotline (800-512-6000) and the person at
  22. the other end had no idea what I was talking about (was I the only
  23. one who read the Times and called in?) but he promised to send the request
  24. to "Research."  I didn't expend much good to come of that.

  26. Today I received a packet from GAO "Document Handling and Information
  27. Service."  It is a 32-page printoff from their database, searching for
  28. B-52 bombers in 1992 publications.   And sure enough there is a publication
  29. called "Triad Summary," dated 9-28-92, which seems to discuss the elements
  30. mentioned in the op-ed article.  The document type is "correspondence"
  31. as opposed to report and the number is PEMD-92-36R.  I'm ordering a copy
  32. today.
