- There have been a number of requests about authoring software of which some
- have been mine. For those still looking I came across an article called
-
- How to build an authoring environment by Robert Becker in
- Instruction Delivery Systems March/April 1991 p8-23.
-
- It contains a directory of authoring systems. The list numbers nearly
- one hundred although not all would equate with Hypercard, Linkway systems.
- Information given on each system are:
- Company Cost, Demo available, hardware requirements, system type (eg menu or
- icon) and whether each system supports text, graphics, videodisc, CD-ROM or
- other peripherals.
-
- The article gives many pointers about what to look for in an authoring
- system which can be handy given that no system gives exactly the same
- features as the next, each tends to have its own way of handling problems and
- users are developing a wide range of creations.
-
- I look forward to people sharing their evaluations of authoring systems as we
- come into contact with a growing range of "solutions".
