  26.    Meeting the Challenge, Inc. is interested in hearing from persons and
  27. institutions who would be willing to participate in a field evaluation of
  28. software developed for an NSF-sponsored project. The evaluation
  29. would be in the Fall of 1993, from about August 93 through Nov 1993.
  30.  
  31. The evaluation would involve hosting a beta version of our software on a
  32. 386 class PC, running Windows, and using the system to identify appropriate
  33. accommodations for students with disabilities.  While the evaluation plan
  34. is not designed yet, we expect to gather information from the participants
  35. on the value of the system in identifying appropriate accommodations in a
  36. variety of situations.

  38. We are most interested in gathering a diverse group of evaluators from a
  39. wide spectrum of educational institutions.  For example, in the current
  40. project, we are working with a 2 year community college and a four year
  41. state university in our local area.  What we are seeking is to expand
  42. the evaluation group to include:
  43.  
  44. - persons who are very familiar (expert !?) in determining the needs of
  45. students with disabilities and identifying appropriate
  46. accommodations (both assistive technology and other forms of
  47. accommodations).
  48.  
  49. - persons who are unfamiliar with determining the needs of students with
  50. disabilities and identifying accommodations, but end up doing it anyway.
  51.  
  52. - educational institutions with a strong science and engineering curriculum
  53. who deal with issues of providing computer access to students with
  54. disabilities.
  55.  
  56. We are contacting some institutions directly, ones that we know fit these
