- Amen to Vic Mayer's statement about security as a prime factor for the
- Gores and Clintons' school choices. This seems to be the prime reason in
- my mind for the Clintons, at least. Though I was disappointed in the
- choice, I do understand it for what I THINK are security reasons (so much
- of the list speculation is based on the skimpiest of info! Does anyone
- really know the Clintons' reasons???), and I applaud the choice of a Quaker
- school over the possibility of a more elite and traditional/exclusionary
- private school (like St. Albans, where Al Gore prepped for Harvard).

- Just what is a private school anyway? Are the public schools of Winnetka
- Illinois, Chapel Hill, NC, and Scarsdale NY any less "exclusionary?"
- Recall the many postings on Kozol on this list over the last few months.
