  16. Amen to Vic Mayer's statement about security as a prime factor for the
  17. Gores and Clintons' school choices.  This seems to be the prime reason in
  18. my mind for the Clintons, at least.  Though I was disappointed in the
  19. choice, I do understand it for what I THINK are security reasons (so much
  20. of the list speculation is based on the skimpiest of info!  Does anyone
  21. really know the Clintons' reasons???), and I applaud the choice of a Quaker
  22. school over the possibility of a more elite and traditional/exclusionary
  23. private school (like St. Albans, where Al Gore prepped for Harvard).

  25. Just what is a private school anyway?  Are the public schools of Winnetka
  26. Illinois, Chapel Hill, NC, and Scarsdale NY any less "exclusionary?"
  27. Recall the many postings on Kozol on this list over the last few months.
