- While I am hearing, this is exactly what we expect to have happen one day
- with our deaf child. What I am reading is that this child has moved from
- phase one to phase two of the grieving process for his being different from
- the majority and recognizing that he will have a more challenging life as a
- result. (Phase one is denial; phase two is anger; ... is acceptance of self.)
- I think what you have here is growth in the child. I am also sensing that
- either the mom is still in phase one, or she does not yet understand that
- he child will have a grieving process to go through before he can fully
- attain acceptance of self as a deaf human being. Good luck with this one!
