- The Stanford Data Center, with other Stanford University IS groups,
- is developing Portfolio - a Campus Wide Information System (CWIS)
- that will extend and enhance the functions of Folio (SU's current
- CWIS). The Portfolio Project Leader will manage & coordinate the
- design & development of Portfolio. S/he will coordinate the
- development, installation & maintenance of Portfolio's technical
- infrastructure, tools necessary to empower new Graphical User
- Interface (GUI) developers, and a suite of applications to be made
- available through Portfolio. S/he is also responsible for
- cultivating partnerships w/ other SU offices to develop & encourage
- community interest and participation in Portfolio.

- S/he will manage & coordinate the interaction of largely
- self-managed work teams within a matrix-management environment;
- supervise a small team of highly tech staff and contractors; manage
- implementation and integration of projects including resource
- allocation, project planning & reporting; provide tech leadership

- Qualifications:
-
- Extensive experience in app project management, usually associated
- with approx ten yrs of increasing levels of responsibility planning,
- leading & tracking medium to large-scale computer-system develop;
- demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, including ability to
- lead effectively in a complex org char by matrix-management of
- multiple independent work teams; demonstrated ability to do
- effective outreach & to cultivate partnerships w/ a wide variety of
- departments & users; excellent oral & written comm skills & ability
- to comm in both tech & non-tech environments; excellent sup skills;
- BA in CS, EE or a related field and five years of experience in sys
- design, analysis & programming, or an equivalent combo of relevant
- education & exp; min 5 yrs experience programming & app-development;
- broad experience in a variety of technology environments (including
- experience building applications in a variety of languages or
- interfaces); familiarity w/ a variety of operating systems (MacOS,
- Windows, Unix, etc.) and standard GUI guidelines (such as Apple's
- HIG or IBM's CUA); demonstrated negotiation skills in a complex or a
- consensus-driven environment

- Preferred: Knowledge of Stanford or another university; experience
- developing GUI apps for microcomputer or workstations (especially
- Windows, MacOS, Unix); knowledge of info retrieval theory & current
- resource browsers & navigators; experience mentoring developers in
- new software & new development styles; experience developing
- computer software using client/server technology; experience with
- object-oriented programming, particularly with Prograph or MacAPP

- In order to qualify for the II level, applicants must meet the
- stated qualifications and either have demonstrated experience
- managing large and very complex app development projects, or possess
- the majority of the preferred tech skills and exp.
