  11. I once heard a talk where the speaker said that science fiction can
  12. be roughly classified politically as either libertarian (e.g. Robert
  13. Heinlein, Vernor Vinge) or socialist (e.g. H.G. Wells).

  15. I am not much of a SF fan myself, but I have read something by Vinge
  16. (can't remember the title, it was the one with the bobbles and the
  17. Peace Authority and the Tinkers), and the politics stands out
  18. clearly.

  20. What do the SF fans have to say about this?  Can you offer a more
  21. elaborate classification?  What do you think the impact of science
  22. fiction has been on political debate?
