- Although I can't say that I've actually had a full-fledged out-of-body
- experience, I have three times felt as if I were somehow escaping my body
- for a time. In all three cases, this happened during a lucid dream which
- involved a ghost, or at least the idea of a dead person.
-
- This is what generally has happened each of the three times:
-
- I'm in the middle of some dream (the most recent one--last night-- was
- definitely partially lucid) and for some reason I come in contact with evidence
- of someone that I know is dead in real life. Last night it was my dog Sally,
- who died a few years ago. The time before that, it was my dead grandmother. The
- first time, it was someone/thing I didn't know, but I knew it was a ghost.
-
- Anyway, the moment I realize that the person (or dog!) is dead, in my dream
- I suddenly get very scared; it's as if I am shocked to make the realization.
- I then get a creepy feeling of shivers, which then magnify right into the
- "vibes" and paralysis that everyone talks about. Then the out-of-body part
- starts.
-
- The first time, I was totally scared shitless and tried crying for help.
- Everything that happened was completely out of my control. After this, I posted
- here and got some suggestions and hints about how to control such experiences.
-
- The second time, I wasn't as scared, but the episode didn't last long enough
- for me to apply the techniques discussed here on the net.
-
- Last night, I consciously tried the "roll off the bed" technique, and I'll
- be damned if it didn't work! I really felt like I was flying and moving all
- over the place. The only problem was that I could hardly see anything. I
- could sort of see outlines of things, but I couldn't really tell where I
- was. Some people here have talked about having heightened senses, but mine
- were just about useless. I think I saw my arms and legs, but things faded
- away after that. But this was definitly the most concrete experience of
- the three that I've had.
-
- Anyway, sorry for the rambling nature of this post, but I was wondering if
- anyone else had noticed a connection between their OOBE-ish events and dreams
- about ghosts or dead people.
-
- I welcome any comments! Thanks for reading,
-
