- I am not trying to get flamed with this post, nor am I trying to offend
- people. No doubt there are those who consider my questions akin to
- suggesting that Christ did not exist, but if you are in this camp please
- humour me.
-
- I've noticed in many of the threads that people who give advice attach to
- the end of their posting a caveat implying their lack of direct
- experience. For instance,
- > Anyways, who really knows? A little caution can't hurt, but let's not
- > get paranoid about it. I am certainly looking foreward to any oob
- > experiences that I may have.

- How many of those who speak knowledgably about OOBE's are speaking from
- *personal* knowledge, as opposed to simply repeating something they have
- read in books? I note that some people *are* speaking from personal
- experience:
- > I have yet to be able to touch the cord. I never conciously imagine a
- > "SHIELD", such as many people suggest, and so far I'm fine.
- but I wonder what percentage of the posters fall into this category.
-
- For the sake of argument, I am going to divide OOBE's into two categories:
- Those during which the traveller can visit areas of the tangible world,
- and those in which the journeys are in restricted to "other realms". Most
- of the discussions I have seen have only been about "other realm" OOBE's
- or else did not specify the type -- are there any individuals on the net
- who have had "real world" OOBE's? (I ask this because I cannot think of
- any way of distinguishing an "other realm" OOBE from hallucination, while
- the "tangible world" OOBE's may be put to empirical tests and thus
- interest me much more) (And please don't cite the similarities of
- experience as a support for the non-hallucinatorialness of "other realm"
- OOBE -- there may be brain structures which, if activated, produce the
- same type of hallucination in all humans).
-
- If there is anybody out there who has "real world" OOBE's (preferably ones
- that they have reality-tested) could they post their techniques? I am
- curious about whether the two experiences are approached in the same way
- (as well as a certain amount of curiousity about whether anybody has "real
- world" OOBE's or whether they are purely a hearsay phenomenon).
-
- Again apologies to any who feel that I am stepping on their toes with this
- post; I do not mean to offend.
