- For Sam, and anyone else for whom it wasn't obvious:
-
- Principal Chief Wilma Mankiller of the Cherokee Nation (I think of the
- Eastern Band, anyone remember if she represents both East and West?)
-
- Peterson Zah

- I'm pretty proud of Chief Mankiller. She's currently serving
- her second elected term as Principal Chief of the Nation. It wasn't
- always so, as I understand it, that a woman could rise to become the
- principal ruler of the Cherokees (or any similar office). Since she's
- been re-elected, it would seem she's felt to also be doing a good job.
- This is good (said the feminist).
