  31. I am probably ignorant of many of the implications of this issue but
  32. I would like to make a comment in hopes that I may be enlightned by
  33. any responses to my comment.  I think that you are correct that the
  34. movie does paint those groups as saints and bums.  I think however that
  35. while those caractorizatons are not accurate in general they convey the
  36. reality percieved by any group involved in violence
  37. with another group.  You could see these perceptions
  38. during "Operation Desert Storm".  As Saddam Hussain
  39. was painted as a deamon, President Bush's popularity
  40. rateing soared to saintly hights.  The Movie was portraying
  41. life from the point of veiw of the Lakotas.  It would be
  42. natural for the Lakotas to view groups of people as "bums" or
  43. worse if those groups of people were committing acts
  44. of violence against the Lakota people.
