  14. I know what it was like to be an addict.  I used to be one.  Now I am 
  15. just the occasional user.

  17. I remember spending hours on end connected and chatting with Tommi and 
  18. Ari (hi guys!)  I remember greeting them at Christmas and New Years.
  19. The friends made were wonderful!  The chance to communicate to people
  20. half-way around the world was a rush for me.

  22. Of course, as someone mentioned, the grades began to slide.  I struggled.
  23. I had a hard time trying to pull myself away from the computer and 
  24. focusing on my studies.  heck, I even did a take home final while chatting
  25. with other folks.

  27. Now all that is over and done with.  I survived my studies, but not without
  28. taking some damage.  Now the reason that I am on at all is all this time
  29. I have on my hands since the world seems to be in a recession and jobs are 
  30. hard to come by.  I'm caught in that catch-22: no experience? no job, but
  31. how can one get the experience without the job?  You know what I mean?

  33. Alas, IRC serves its purpose both for good and evil (evil in the sense that
  34. it's a vice for some of us, like smoking or something).  I can't say that I 
  35. regretted using IRC, yet I can't say that I am happy to have used it either.
