  23. Well... I'm not sure they're really hypocrites. "anti-discrimination"
  24. laws, for all their good intent, are still laws, and attempt to control
  25. a social ill (racism/sexism/anti-gay ("homophobe" has been rendered more
  26. meaningless than "fascist")) through legislation.

  28. Imagine, for a second, that virtually all anti-discrimination laws were
  29. repealed, effective immediately. What would the net effect be?

  31. My guess is that it would be very little. Any company that had a policy
  32. of not hiring people simply because of their skin color of sex would be
  33. presumably passing over qualified employees for less qualified ones, and
  34. would find itself out of investors.

  36. Imagine the fallout from the public: A personnel agency here in NY was
  37. found to be discriminating against blacks and hispanics. State hit it
  38. with a fine of several thousand dollars. But what put them out of
  39. business was the hundreds of people who picketed the place (rightfully,
  40. I might add).

  42. Anti-discrimination laws had their place and time, as did labor unions
  43. and war bonds. But now, anybody who is stupid enough to admit to racism
  44. is branded an idiot, and shunned professionally and socially. People who
  45. have a senseless dislike for homosexuals are beginning to get the same
  46. treatment.
