- Try reading Clancy's books. Patriot Games wasn't exactly a book for
- major character development. Jack Ryan's character was already
- established in _Hunt For Red October_, in both the book and movie. In
- Patriot Games, Ryan's family was threatened, and he was on a mission of
- vengeance. Parallel it with Dalton's performance in _Licence To Kill_.
- He didn't expand the character either, and why? He was already
- established, and the plot put him on a set course of action.
