- It is an acronym for "Small Computer System Interface", a standard orginally
- developed by Shugart Associates (then called Shugart Associates System
- Interface or SASI). It was approved in 1986 by ANSI as the standard for using
- a 50-pin connector for multiple devices (up to eight--including the host) to be
- connected in a daisy-chain fashion.
