- We observe that using FTP mget from clients with different file naming
- conventions from VMS doesn't work the way we would like. For example,
- mget *.* using NCSA Telnet/FTP from an MS-DOS system gives you filenames
- like a.c1, b.c4, c.c2 derived from names a.c;1, b.c;4, and c.c;2 respectively.
- Using mget *.* from Windows/NT flat out fails, when the client is unable
- to open a local file with a ";" in the name. Are there any clever ways
- to avoid these problems? Currently we first run the FTP client on VMS
- to push the files to a Sun, and then transfer to the actual target system.
-
- Thanks.
