- Happy Holiday Greetings to everyone!
-
- I've got a question which I'm hoping that someone out there
- might be familiar with. There is an isolated group of workstations
- set up running Pathworks on my network that is in close proximity to
- some electro-magnetic interferrence (EMI) in the form of some high
- voltage electrical wiring that runs through an existing wall.
-
- The workstations (WS) are IBM PS2 Mod/70s and IBM clone 486s. We are
- running Windows v3.1 on most of the WSs as well as Dos 5 on all the WSs.
- We are using 10-Base-T wiring which connects to a DEC Repeater 90T which
- in term, is plugged into a DEC Hub. The DEC Hub is located in the same
- area as the affected WSs.
-
- The problem is that periodically during the day the WSs will loose
- connections to services that they were previously attached to, i.e,
- when you type "USE" at the dos prompt "ERROR" appears to the left of the
- service that was lost. Its easy to reconnect but that's not the solution.
-
- Has anyone else had this experience and if so please point me in the right
- direction on what to do to fix it.
-
- Many thanks in advance!
