  13. UUNET's incoming news server, and host for 100 outgoing NNTP feeds,
  14. will be going down for emergency maintenance today at 2pm EST.  I am
  15. very sorry for the short notice; a flakey ethernet card necessitates this.

  17. Unfortunately, at this time we have no idea how long it will take to
  18. fix the problem.  I expect that the machine will be up and working for
  19. news service again within a couple of hours even if the interface has
  20. not been fully repaired.  (There are two other interfaces on the machine.)

  22. No news will be lost and feeds from news1 and news2 (all uucp feeds
  23. and about 60 nntp feeds) will continue to run as long as they have
  24. some work to do.
