- I would conclude that Clinton intends that the priorities of the
- Energy department be shifted away from nuclear fission, and toward other
- areas, such as those mentioned by other posters (conservation, renewables,
- etc.).

- As it happens, one of the biggest, if not the biggest, 'line items'
- in the DOE budget has historically been the management of the facilities
- which produce nuclear weapons. I would certainly hope that *any*
- President, and especially a President of Clinton's known beliefs,
- would NOT make this the major requirement for a new Secretary of DOE.
