- Most of the territory of Palestine was seized in 1948. Three quarters
- of a million Palestinians were driven from their homes, in an "ethnic
- cleansing" similar to what is now going on in Bosnia. The remainder
- became second class citizens in a Zionist state. This event is called
- in Arabic "El Naqbar" - the Catastrophe. The shock waves of that event
- are still echoing around the arab world. If you want to understand the
- Israel/Palestine dispute, the key year is 1948, not 1967.
