  18.  Bosnia's Muslim Women  are asking the (Muslim) world  to fly them
  19.  plane  loads of  oral contraceptives  because being  subjected to
  20.  repeated rape they do not want  to perpetuate their agony by also
  21.  becoming pregnant.

  23.  Mufeeda Alic is  a Bosnian woman worker. She says  ''If you can't
  24.  protect us don't bother sending  us other medicines, just send us
  25.  the Pills.''  She is  not cynical.  She thinks  the world  can do
  26.  more!

  28.  She adds: ''In  some places, like the eastern  region, girls over
  29.  the age of eight  are raped at least two or  three times a day.''
  30.  For them it has become a part of the way of life. I met one woman
  31.  who was raped by six Chetniks and is pregnant.

  33.  Large numbers of  women and very young girls  have reported being
  34.  raped and brutally violated. It  is impossible to think that they
  35.  will ever  recover from the  shock. They  are the living  dead of
  36.  Bosnia.

  38.  A 17-year old Muslim girl from the city of Rogatica described how
  39.  she was  raped and  beaten-up by  Chetniks. The  Chetnik warriors
  40.  then branded  the Serbian cross on  her chest with a  heated iron
  41.  rod.

  43.  Another 15-year old, from Banja  Luka had been 'luckier'. She has
  44.  a frightening tale  of how she and her family  had been beaten up
  45.  by soldiers at  a checkpoint while trying to  escape. ''They were
  46.  telling  each other  not  to hurt  us in  our  faces because  the
  47.  UNPROFOR (United Nations Protection Force) would see the marks''.
  48.  So they just beat us all over our bodies.

  50.  Women  aren't  the only  targets  of  Serbian savagery.  Children
  51.  qualify equally  for their  brutality. Drunken Chetniks  go about
  52.  towns  and  villages  terrorising   and  kidnaping  people.  Just
  53.  northeast of Mostar, the Chetniks have made a habit of hanging on
  54.  branches the dresses of the little girls they rape. Each time the
  55.  locals see clothing hanging in the  bush they are overcome by the
  56.  fear that yet another girl was raped and probably killed.

  58.  Francine Proulx, a French humanitarian aid worker, summarised the
  59.  situation saying ''This place has become a living hell for women.
  60.  I can  not imagine  a worse  fate [than this]  for any  woman. It
  61.  would be more agreeable if they just tied the women to sticks and
  62.  burned them.''

  64.  She recounts the tale of an 18  year old girl who was kidnaped by
  65.  Serbian  soldiers. She  said the  girl was  kept in  a house  the
  66.  soldiers had  taken and she  was abused  on a regular  basis. She
  67.  said that the girl was frequently sadomized by the Serbs, and she
  68.  was given no  food or water. Proulx says the  girls told her that
  69.  the  soldiers made  her drink  their  urine. She  added that  the
  70.  Serbian soldiers kept  the girl bound and blind  folded, and they
  71.  only  fed her  if  she was  able  to correctly  guess  - from  an
  72.  identity parade - which soldier had sodomized her.
