- I think a false stereotype of dominent man = high-violence man is being pushed
- here. Another is the dubious move of blaming the victim for 'chosing' a violent
- partner (who of course would not be abusive otherwise?). There is no 'typical'
- profile of an abuser. Some other books (like "Getting Free") would probably
- provide a more balanced picture of abuse (there's even a chapter on lesbian
- relationships- to throw off the stereotype of women = non-violence).
