  17. Usually I am not a poetic person.  I never write poem in my life.
  18. But when I read the poem written by Xua^n Va(n "Hoi? Anh Khi My~ 
  19. Giao Hoa`," I suddenly feel poetic.  So here is my response to

  81. I realize that there are other netters who are interested in
  82. Vietnamese culture, but who cannot read Vietnamese so they
  83. usually skip when they encounter a poem on the net.  So here
  84. is my translation for the poem for those who don't understand
  85. Vietnamese very well.

  88.       A RESPONSE TO "ASK YOU, MY DEAR BROTHER!  WOULD YOU COME
  89.       BACK TO VIETNAM WHEN THE U.S. AND VIETNAM NORMALIZE?"

  91.        (Written from a point of view of a Vietnamese girl
  92.     who still lives under the Communist Vietnam)

  95.       If one day the U.S. and Vietnam normalize
  96.       Please don't go back there my dear brother
  97.       Don't go back there when tears are still rolling down
  98.       Don't go back there when our people still still live
  99.       in hell and their lives are being tortured and sackled.

  101.       If one day the U.S. and Vietnam normalize
  102.       Please don't go back there my dear brother
  103.       Please don't go back there to help the devilish Communists
  104.       And please don't go back there to help them to sell our
  105.       motherland.

  107.       The Communists only know how to oversell our motherland's precious
  108.       resources
  109.       And they will take all of the money and still leave our
  110.       people hungry and poor
  111.       Everyday they will tell our relatives:
  112.       Prison will be your home if you dare to say anything

  114.       If one day the U.S. and Vietnam normalize
  115.       Please don't go back there my dear brother
  116.       Please don't go back there and help the Communists building the
  117.       prostitute houses and sex tour disguised under "Tourism"
  118.       And please don't help them force the innocent children into
  119.       those whore houses in order to serve foreigners.

  123.       The Communists confiscate all of them
  124.       They use it to pamper themselves in liquor and sex
  125.       And after they run out of money, they take down the kid's school
  126.       -- assuming anything is left over -- and sell these rubble on

  129.       And then the money that you give to your younger sister
  130.       The Communist comrade also takes it all away
  131.       Every night they come to her house asking sweetly
  132.       "I give to three choices:   1.  You give me all of your money.
  133.                   2.  You become my sex slave.
  134.                   3.  Jail time"

  138.       They tell the girl enthusiastically:
