  30.     I think (not sure) Sengundha Mudhaliyars/Arcot Mudhaliyars are 
  31.     forward caste. Naidus, Balija and Kamma, are forward castes.

  33.     There was a 'sub reservation', within backward, called
  34.     'most backward', comprising few really backward castes, like
  35.     vannaar, ambattars etc and the one that was a very large 
  36.     population is vanniyar. Earlier DMK regim decompartmentalised
  37.     BC reservation, thanks to the powerful castes within the BCs,
  38.     making narikkuravar (yes the nomadic narikkuravars
  39.     are 'backward' caste, which in my opinion should be put in
  40.     Scheduled Tribe category), ambattar, vannaar etc. to compete with,
  41.     Mudhaliars, Kongu gounders etc. Not only that they increased the 
  42.     % of BC reservation (from 27% to 32% ?) and included few more
  43.     castes, which were forward castes before (Kongu gounder was one
  44.     of them).

  46.     This is the main reason, for Vanniar uprising, which is genuine
  47.     in my opinion (I come from Vanniyar dominated region). They rightly
  48.     blamed DMK as their No.1 enemy, but instead of showing their anger
  49.     on the higher castes within BC, who were stealing their share, they
  50.     vented their frustration on the poor Scheduled caste people. This
  51.     is because two reasons: (1). They saw many Scheduled caste people,
  52.     who were lower in caste, overtaking them and (2). it was easier to
  53.     attack them than the other powerful backward caste people.

  55.     After converting Vanniyar Sangam into a political party, PMK, they
  56.     are trying to patch up the SC community, but the latter still looks
  57.     at them with doubt.
