  18. contains three grave errors: (1) the Proto-Bulgars were not a Finnish
  19. (or even Finnic), but a Turkic tribe, (2) they came to the south side
  20. of the River Danube as settlers, not as conquerors, and they became
  21. allies of the Slavic population in their struggle against Byzantium,
  22. and (3) since the Slavs were much more numerous than the Bulgars,
  23. present-day Bulgarians are descendants of the Slavs to a much higher
  24. degree than they are descendants of the Bulgars.
