- In article 11347 of soc.culture.korean, junglee@gandalf.rutgers.edu
- (Jung S. Lee) says, in part:
-
-
- >Nettiquette is something arbitrary which is majority of people
- >agree on. But you see that can prevent people from speaking out
- >on something which most of you don't like to hear. Then how can
- >one expect to furfill his right? When you give one right to do
- >something, you give it all. If you give right to have abortion to
- >people, you cannot say, "Well, you can have abortion but you have
- >to have permission from your parents or your husband".
-
- and a bit later:
-
- >It is one of highest law allows one speak what he feels and thinks of.
-
- and later yet:
-
- >I have never thought that I would be free of what I said. But I prefer
- >that than shutting up my mouth. Any advice is welcomed.
-
- Well, Mr. Lee, I like your attitude. You say what you want to say, and
- you're willing the take heat for it from those who disagree. I think
- your approach is far preferable to the "let's all be nice and not upset
- each other" school of thought. Personally, I'm sick of all these self-
- appointed net police who think they have to tell the rest of us how to
- express ourselves according to their imagined rules.
-
- One of the reasons we don't have a lot of formal government censorship in
- this country is that we don't NEED to have it; most people seem to be
- pretty good at censoring themselves, much to the detriment of all of us.
-
- Keep talking, Mr. Lee. Freedom is no good unless you exercise it.
