  29. not isn't the issue.  The *perception* is that this is the case; and
  30. that effects morale.  Not a good idea.

  32.     Studies of co-ed vs. segregated units in Desert Shield/Desert
  33. Storm have shown a significant morale problem in co-ed units.  Put
  34. crudely: not all the grunts were getting any, and that hurt morale.
  35. Morale directly affects unit performance; unit performance directly
  36. affects body counts.

  38.     At this moment, with the current set of perceptions most people
  39. have, unit morale is going to plummet should homosexuals be mandated
  40. into the ranks.  And that, my friends, is going to kill people.
