  33. Funny how my take of the story is neither here nor there.
  34. I recall the incident mentioned as one in which Levinger
  35. was accused of having shot off his firearm indiscriminently.
  36. This resulted in the death of a storekeeper who had not been
  37. involved in the stoning.  The storekeeper was indeed innocent,
  38. all quotation marks to the contrary.

  40. The debate was with regard as to whether Levinger had fired
  41. and continued to fire his weapon after the danger had passed,
  42. or whether his response could be considered justifiable.

  44. The paper "Ha'aretz" is not vehemently anti religious as much
  45. as objective and based on a non-religious viewpoint.  Of course
  46. this can often lead to conflicts with religious principles
  47. and policies.

  49. As to my personal opinion of the incident, I think that the price
  50. Levinger paid for his mistake was not consistent in that had
  51. anyone but a palestinian been killed, the period would have been
  52. greater.  Yes, this is mere conjecture on my part but in general
  53. manslaughter does carry a longer sentence.
