  12. Recently, I posted that my wife's provisional 2 year 'permanent resident' visa
  13. was up for review. Here's the Reader's Digest version of what happened.

  15. We received a letter from INS, indicating that her visa was about to expire, and
  16. that if she wished to obtain a permanent permanent visa (redundancy intended),
  17. we should send a check for $75 and "any documentation to prove that we are 
  18. legitimately married", or words to that effect.

  20. We sent:

  22. $75 check (has both of our names on it)
  23.  
  24. Photocopies of the birth certificates of both our children (one born here, one
  25. born in Japan)
  26.  
  27. We got:
  28.  
  29. A letter stating that my wife's permanent permanent status has been approved,
  30. and that we are to get a new 'green card' at our earliest convenience, please
  31. bring 2 recent photos to the address below, etc.

  33. So, except for the $75, fairly painless.
