- Recently, I posted that my wife's provisional 2 year 'permanent resident' visa
- was up for review. Here's the Reader's Digest version of what happened.
-
- We received a letter from INS, indicating that her visa was about to expire, and
- that if she wished to obtain a permanent permanent visa (redundancy intended),
- we should send a check for $75 and "any documentation to prove that we are
- legitimately married", or words to that effect.
-
- We sent:
-
- $75 check (has both of our names on it)
-
- Photocopies of the birth certificates of both our children (one born here, one
- born in Japan)
-
- We got:
-
- A letter stating that my wife's permanent permanent status has been approved,
- and that we are to get a new 'green card' at our earliest convenience, please
- bring 2 recent photos to the address below, etc.
-
- So, except for the $75, fairly painless.
