  22. If Sri Aurobindo declared in his Uttarpara speech that "Sanatana 
  23. Dharma is India Nationalism", it was the unfailing inspiration that
  24. he received from his predecessor, Swami Vivekananda, who did even
  25. hesitate an iota to swear his loyalty to his proud heritage of 
  26. Hindu nationalism. Swamiji says: "When a man has begun to be ashamed 
  27. of his ancestors, the end has come. Here am I, one of the least of
  28. the Hindu race, yet proud of my race, proud of my ancestors. I am
  29. proud to call myself a Hindu. I am proud that I am one of your
  30. unworthy servants. I am proud, I am a coutryman of yours, you the
  31. descendants of the most glorious rishis the world ever saw.". He 
  32. called out to the nation: "O India, forget not that the ideal of thy
  33. womanhood is Sita,Savithri, Damayanthi; forget not that the God thou
  34. worship is the great ascetic of ascetics, the all-renouncing Sankara,
  35. the Lord of Uma, forget not that thy marriage, thy wealth, thy life
  36. are not for sense-pleasure, are not for thy individual happiness; forget
  37. not that thou art born as a sacrifice to the Mother's altar". His
  38. call was a direct call to the youth of the nation to offer their lives
  39. at the altar of the Motherland to liberate her and to install her on
  40. the pedestal of loka guru". "Liberty is the possession of the brave",
  41. he declared and called upon the valiant youth of nation to use sana,
  42. dana, bheda and danda - the four weapons to conquer the enemy.

  44. The fact that Swami Vivekananda directly influenced the Indian
  45. revolutionary movement in the cause of achieving freedom is borne out
  46. of the statement that Mother Sarada Devi made sometime after the passing
  47. away of the Swami: "Had Naren been living now he would have been in 
  48. Company's jail". The renowned biographer of Swami Vivekananda says: 
  49. "If the generation that followed saw, three years after Swami's death, 
  50. the revolt of Bengal,  the prelude to the great movement of Tilak and
  51. Gandhi, if India today has definitely taken part in the collective
  52. action of organised masses, it is due to the initial shock to the
  53. mighty Lazarus, come forth".
