  13.               Kurukshetra

  15.    Fascination and adventure
  16.       has lured me away from the
  17.       land of holy cows and magic fakirs
  18.       to the land of green pastures
  19.       wherein I graze on
  20.       unmindful and uncaring
  21.       the hardships of rest of my brethren
  22.       with occasional pangs of haunted memories
  23.       and patriotic ruminations
  24.  
  25.    Occasionally I wander
  26.       through the battlegrounds of SCI
  27.       watching and wondering on
  28.       the several warring factions
  29.       waging the games of war
  30.       with friends and foes alike
  31.       matching their wits
  32.       one against the other
  33.  
  34.     The battles on religion ranging
  35.       from mandir to masjid
  36.       bahai to islam
  37.       brahmin to sudra
  38.       sunni, suffi and sikh
  39.       make me sick
  40.       but the succor never comes
  41.       to spit it out
  42.  
  43.     And there are battles on homelands
  44.       from the lions of punjab
  45.       to the tigers of tamil
  46.       crying and craving for
  47.       khalistan or eelam
  48.       one more bitter than the other
  49.       for reasons unknown to them
  50.       and which they cannot comprehend
  51.  
  52.     Then the battles wage on sex
  53.       with the MCP's on one side
  54.       and the feminists on the other
  55.       sharpening their cudgels
  56.       to stab one another
  57.  
  58.     Then the battles of Bengal tiger
  59.       short tempered and irrational
  60.       taking on naxalbaris and commies
  61.       paki's and bangladeshi's alike
  62.       with no compassion for norms of decency
  63.  
  64.     Once in a while the wars waged by the bulls
  65.       stoop so low, that they claim
  66.       the Tajmahal to be Tejo-Mahalaya
  67.       and little do they realize
  68.       that temple or tomb
  69.       in our heart of hearts
  70.       Tajmahal will always be
  71.       a "Temple of love"
  72.  
  73.     The wars wage on dharma and karma
  74.       ranging from santhan dharma to yoga
  75.       from vedas to upanishids
  76.       from Bhagwat gita to Quran
  77.       from testament old to new
  78.       from teachings of Swami Vivekananda 
  79.       to Subramanya Bharathi
  80.       from Adi Sankara Puri Yangal to Kural
  81.       make my mind reel in circles
  82.  
  83.     Then the language wars on jokes
  84.       from Ajeet and Mona
  85.       to Raabert and Sona
  86.       to undeciphered tamil jargons
  87.       makes me wonder
  88.       if I should laugh or cry
  89.  
  90.     Through the maze of wars
  91.       the cries of hawaldar on discrimination
  92.       the clarion calls on Somalia
  93.       and the passionate calls of 
  94.       development on our motherland
  95.       ring on screechingly
  96.       falling on deaf ears
  97.  
  98.     Occasionally a lone warrior
  99.       cries his pangs of nostalgia
  100.       from the banks of kerala to coimbatore
  101.       and the tragic tales of tamil hero and his madhumita
  102.       making my heart cringe in pain
  103.  
  104.     Then the battles of yester years
  105.       of x+1 syndrome
  106.       increasing in pitch to x+2 syndrome
  107.       lamenting on the false promises and broken dreams
  108.       nouveau rich styles and cross cultural breeds
  109.       of the loyal sons from the land of holy cows
  110.  
  111.     With all these wars raging on,
  112.       there is an occasional beacon of light
  113.       shining in the form of "frequently asked questions"
  114.       and the flashings from the lighthouse
  115.       warning the pitfalls from travel agents
  116.  
  117.     And I hope in future, a path of enlightenment
  118.       will lit up, showing the areas to be improved on
  119.       for the fat milking cows
  120.       grazing in the land of plenty
  121.       to invest in the Bharat
  122.       overburdened and undernourished
  123.       so that the sons of future generations
  124.       can wake up for a better tomorrow
  125.  
  126.     As the wars continue,
  127.       so will I wage my own
  128.       trying to pen like

  130.       I have failed for now
  131.       as my "Kurukshetra" has little grammer and no rhyme
  132.       but one day I will conquer
  133.       another battle and another war
  134.       and until then chow my brethren
