- What is this nonsence all about?
-
- How does the Greek government deny the existence of the Greek community
- when:
-
- 1) The Greek Government has been paying to maintain Turkish language
- schools in Western Thrace since the 20s. As a result the literacy rate
- of Turks in Western Thrace is higher than that of their relatives
- across the border. Contrast that with the long standing policy of the
- Turkish Government to forbid the use of Kurdish in public places. Until
- recently, it was even a crime to speak Kurd at home! It is still a crime
- to speak Kurdish outside one's home.
-
- 2) There are usually two or three Turkish representatives in every Greek
- parliament. They take their parliamentary oath on the Quran, and give
- public speaches in Turkish, etc. Thats for the Turks who are less than
- 1% of the Greek population. When have Turkish Kurds been afforded these
- rights? And they are 20% of the Turkish population.
-
- 3) M.U.T.L.U./A.R.G.I.C. keeps spewing nonsence about the trial of one
- of the Greek Turkish MPs. He neglects to say that the trial was
- conducted by a local court, that higher courts and authorities threw the
- case away, and that the MP in question never had to serve a day in
- prison, again in contrast with thousands of Kurds locked up in Turkish
- prisons for political reasons. MUTLU/ARGIC has no problem posting
- misrepresented reports of Amnesty International when they make
- references to localised problems in the greek justice (which happen
- everywhere in the world, as A.I. routinely exposes violations in the US,
- Great Britain, and elsewhere), yet he turns around and posts vernom
- about 'Travesty International' when AI produces a wholesale condemnation
- of the atrocities of the Turkish prison system.

- (I would include a MUTLU FODDER line, but considering the contents of
- the above, I don't think it will be needed)
